Graduate Reception Sponsored by the Alumni Association
Through the sponsorship of the Alumni Association of the Institute of Buddhist Studies, there will be, for the first time, a graduate reception on the evening of May 18, 2017, preceding the commencement on the 19th. This reception will be an occasion to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s graduates with the greater community of the Institute of Buddhist Studies.
The main event of the reception will involve the graduates, following an introduction from their advisor or thesis chair, speaking briefly about their studies and how they plan to use their education in their future. This will be followed by a talk from an outstanding IBS alumnus; this year’s speaker will be Rev. Marvin Harada of the Orange County Buddhist Church.
The reception will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jodo Shinshu Center (2140 Durant Avenue, Berkelely, CA 94704).
